The 2016 Petit Figeac is a blend of 41% Cabernet Franc, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 23% Merlot that spent 12-15 months in 30% new French oak. It has a real Figeac bouquet of blackcurrants, truffle, flowers, and forest floor. Silky and medium to full-bodied, this brilliant second wine should be snatched up by readers.
Very cabernet on the nose with blackcurrants, walnuts and fresh herbs. Hints of dried earth. Medium to full body and firm, juicy tannins. Solid. Second wine of Figeac. A blend of 41 per cent cabernet franc, 36 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 23 per cent merlot.
Barrel Sample. The density of this wine is impressive. Powered by its velvety tannins and ample acidity, ripe black fruits thrust forward to offer both richness and intensity. The crisp, black currant flavor on the finish lifts the whole wine.
