Aromas of sour plums, cherry stones, bark and iodine, with some dried herbs. So fresh, tangy and flavorful, with bright berry fruit and savory moss notes. Fine and integrated tannins. Medium body. All about balance. From organically grown grapes.
Shows earthy, barnyard aromas that suggest a little reduction, giving way to plum, cherry, rose, juniper, eucalyptus and iron flavors. Reveals burly tannins that define the finish, which is compact and short. Decant now. Best from 2026 through 2046. 2,750 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.
A certified organic wine, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino display a savory character that accompanies the wine from start to finish over the palate and then some. There is a core of black fruit, but the real takeaway is that spicy contour of dark chestnut husk, acacia honey, tilled earth and toasted rosemary that fills the balloon of your glass. This Brunello finishes on a tart note and shows tannins that could use a few extra years to soften. This is a wine of medium-rich concentration, with 33,000 bottles hitting the market.
