The Chianti Classico has a vivid ruby color and a strong nose of fresh red fruit with hints of cherry. This is a well-structured wine with a fruity finish.
The label features the Commenda di Sant’Eufrosino, the second of four churches built within the city’s walls. Attributed to Italian architect and sculptor Michelozzo di Bartolomeo (1396-1472), the church was built in 1443 by request of the Canigiani family who lived in Volpaia. One of the family members wished to join the Knights of Malta, a religious order and military brotherhood ruled by a Grand Master that answered only to the Pope. The Knights of Malta required that the Canigianis build a church in Volpaia before joining the religious order. The Commenda was deconsecrated in 1932 and declared a national monument in 1981. For 13 years, until 1993, the Commenda housed a renowned art collection. The Commenda is now used for dinners, tastings and other events and its basement contains one of Volpaia’s barrel-aging cellars.
A racy, fine-tuned Chianti Classico with blackberry, black-cherry and wet-earth aromas. Medium-bodied with medium polished tannins and a long finish. Transparent. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
The 2018 Chianti Classico is a gorgeous, mid-weight wine that captures the essence of the estate's high-altitude vineyards. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, licorice, mint, pine and cedar are some of the many aromas and flavors that are woven throughout. The 2018 is gracious, inviting and impeccable in its balance.

Made with organic grapes, this has vinous aromas of freshly pressed grapes that mingle with whiffs of wild berry, moist earth and violet. It's bright and savory, offering Marasca cherry, blood orange and rusty nail alongside lithe tannins and vibrant acidity. Drink through 2025.

This is a delightfully open and accessible value red that could pair with a simple chicken dinner. From an organic farm, the Volpaia 2018 Chianti Classico is a smooth, silky and fruit-driven expression that delivers on the basic promises of elegance and freshness that are associated specifically with Sangiovese from Radda in Chianti.
